At the same time now I got PhD position in MacDiarmid Institute Victoria University of Wellington an Phd sholarship there is 26 000 Nz dol per year. So I am a bit confused what I shoul select aomong them.
The both positions are related to my profile,”nanoscience”
So I really need your help about these two cities. Maybe someone was living in both. Or just was viisiting ,or something else.
What is the difference between them. i heard that Welligton is very windy. but hopefully that it si possible to survive this wind there.

I am really scared about colleges?

May 31, 2010 by NanotechDirectory.com · 3 Comments

I am really scared about my future, and whether or not I’ll get into a college. I applied for a certain collegiate high school last year and I was rejected, I applied for this nanotechnology summer camp for this summer and I was rejected, I apply to volunteer at various hospitals EVERY SUMMER and I am ALWAYS rejected, everyone else I know who has applied for these have gotten in I have never been accepted, or considered. I am really scared I have nothing interesting to put on my college application, NOTHING. I’m trying to do anything I can, but it is very difficult to find things when NOBODY is willing to give me a chance. I currently attend a collegiate high school (not the same one I originally applied for) do you think that is enough? I try to do well in school,I’m not a strait A student like everyone else I have a learning disability, and I am not smart.

I dont know what I can do I’m really scared, I have a feeling that none of the colleges I apply for will accept me.I have been rejected so many times I’m almost certain they will reject me. I hate this I just want to kill my self!, what can I do?

Learn About Drug Delivery Systems

May 31, 2010 by NanotechDirectory.com · Leave a Comment

Drug delivery is a process, during which pharmaceutical compounds are delivered to humans or animals. Methods of delivery include several routs, such as oral, nasal, pneumonial, rectal and several others. In order to work effectively, the drug needs to work in a controlled manner, which would control the circulation of the drug in the body. Targeted delivery occurs when the drug remains active within a specified territory of the body. Targeted drug delivery is especially important in cases, when the drug needs to affect a malicious turmoil, such as in cancerous tissues.

Doctors all over the world are trying to find new methods for more effective drug development and drug delivery systems. One of the most successful methods developed in recent years is nanotechnology. This mechanism, which controls small-scale matter, makes it possible for drugs to permeate trough cell walls. The methods of nanotechnology play a very important role in pharma industry: health organizations manufacture more efficient drugs, released in a controlled manner in order to reach the target areas of the patients’ body.

Drug development aims to find more effective drugs, which would cure or ameliorate symptoms of illness or medical condition. Drug development is required to establish the chemical properties of new compounds, their stability and chemical makeup. The process of drug development also involves the need to fit the regulatory requirements of drug licensing authorities. Pharmaceutical companies, which produce different medications, develop new methods of targeted drug delivery. Nanotechnology, developed in recent years may provide a breakthrough technique of drug delivery.

Does anyone know about Ray Kurzweil?

May 31, 2010 by NanotechDirectory.com · 5 Comments

He is one of the brightest forcasters of technology in our country:

- Has a degree in computers from MIT
- has awards from 13 universities and 3 presidents
- part of the Scientific Hall of Fame
- invented the first voice to computer software
- even testifed before congress

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Kurzweil

______________________________________…

He says by 2050, we could have nanotechnology grow new organs at cheap cost….for anyone who doesn’t know nanites are machines smaller than 100 nanometers, that could potentially enter the blood-stream, dispence medicien or even rebuild DNA.

The only draw back is Kurzweil doesn’t have a degree in biology, only in computers. So how does anyone really KNOW if his predicitions are reasonable? Anyone work in the medical field here?

How can you keep track of the latest reasearch?
Its great to hear from you Gilli. My concern is not whether this is feasible, but how soon and do we have a reasonable chance to see these predictions comes true in our life times. 40 years from now just seems too short, but then again you never know…

I have some questions about nanotechnology and nanoscience, can someone help me?

May 30, 2010 by NanotechDirectory.com · 1 Comment

> What are some of the more advanced uses of nanotechnology
> What are some of the latest discoveries in nanoscience and nanotechnology?
> Why elements and compounds have different properties on the nanoscale?
> can nanotechnology be dangerous to us and/or the environment and if so, how?
>How can nanoparticles be manipulated when they’re on such a small scale?
?How would they be manipulated over a large area for application in the real world?
?What device would be used and how does it work?
>Where would a person go to study nanotechnology or nanoscience? I had a tough time just finding anyone that knew about nanotechnology

If you do have any answers, make sure to put the sources where you found them. If you are the source, can you give me your name and background so i can reference you

I am doing a report on nanotechnology and nanoscience, and I’ve been having a bit of trouble finding answers to many of questions, so i was kind of hoping i could get some help here.
Thanks = )
